Adam & Eve Founder Phil Harvey to Receive XBIZ Lifetime Achievement Award

LOS ANGELES — XBIZ will present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Adam & Eve founder Phil Harvey to honor his 30-plus-year career promoting sexual well-being within adult and worldwide.

“It is with great pleasure that XBIZ present to Mr. Phil Harvey this lifetime achievement award,” XBIZ President Alec Helmy said. “Having founded one of the most respected enterprises in the industry, coupled with his philanthropic efforts to promote sexual health and wellness around the world through DKT International, Mr. Harvey has not only made a positive impact within the industry and abroad but also has been a source of true inspiration to me and many others.”

Harvey founded adult retail giant Adam & Eve in 1972, having acted as president since its start. Sixteen years later he established Washington D.C.-based nonprofit DKT International, which — supported in part by Adam & Eve’s profits — promote family planning and HIV/AIDS prevention through social marketing.

The organization also provides low-priced contraceptives to nations around the world.

“I feel honored to be recognized with the XBIZ Lifetime Achievement Award,” Harvey said. “Much of what I’ve accomplished in the adult entertainment world was in the century [that has] passed, but I’m pleased and proud to continue to serve in a field that brings pleasure, excitement and fulfillment to people’s lives.”

Harvey will accept his award during the Annual XBIZ Awards, scheduled Feb. 12 at Hollywood’s sexiest nightspot, Boulevard 3.

Harvey also will be featured as keynote speaker during the Free Speech Coalition’s Annual Members Meeting at the Warner Center Marriot in Woodland Hills, Calif., held during the XBIZ State of the Industry Conference Feb. 10-12. The XBIZ Awards will culminate the show.
