eXXXotica - Los Angeles

Could the young up-start from the East Coast succeed or would the slow economy put too much of a damper on attendance?
That was the thought that ran through my head as I approached the lobby of the Los Angeles Convention Center.
I arrived during "business hours" to see who was exhibiting and to get a chance to talk to some people before the crowds started to come in during consumer hours.
With over 50 exhibitors running the gambit from small to large companies, eXXXotica Los Angeles is off to a good start.
Some of the shows main exhibitors: HotMovies.com, MyFreeCams.com, Sex App Shop, Clips4Sale.com, Belladonna Entertainment, Evil Angel, LA Direct Models, and BurningAngel.Com opted for their own booths. While others (Vivid Entertainment, Digital Playground, Wicked Pictures, Genesis, Club) were under the Fantasy Island booth in the center of the hall.
Belladonna Entertainment should get an award for the most unique use of floor space. Not only did they have the Belladonna Entertainment car on display but their booth was a filthy bathroom complete with simulated brown stains, multiple glory holes and centerfolds stuck to the walls. In typical Belladonna fashion the crowds packed the entrance to the booth all wanting to sit on the toilet with her.
A couple of rows over you found OMG Lubricant who also got creative and was showcasing the effectiveness of their product but having a lovely spokesmodel use it on a slip N slide.
This show presented several surprises for me. The first was at the Mofo Wear booth. Mofo was showcasing his latest "Mofo Wear Girl" Tara Lynn Foxx but surprised attendees with the appearance of 2005 AVN Award winning Best New Starlet Cytherea. She is thinking about making a return to adult performing and decided to sign at the show.
The second was on Sunday morning. With the two major industry parties the night before and the World Cup finals that morning by 1pm all the major booths were open, with girls signing. Foot traffic was a little light early on but quickly picked up once the match was over.
All in all people seemed pleased with eXXXotica's first Los Angeles show:
Joanna Angel - BurningAngel.Com:
“To be honest it was a little bit slower then I would have liked but I had a really good time and the girls had a really good time and I think my booth is really awesome. I have done several eXXXotica's and conventions are really tough right now with all the free porn and the economy but hopefully that will change soon. eXXXotica is a really good show. They always promote really well and they do what they can to draw a pretty good crowd but it did seem like more people were willing to buy product here then at some of the more recent conventions I have attended. If they have another one I will definitely come back.”
Derek Hay - LA Direct Models:
“The show went great. Pretty good audience attendance, the audience was real positive and was really pleased to come out and meet the stars. We are looking forward to next year and are really pleased eXXXotica came to LA.”
Christian Mann - Evil Angel:
“I am very pleased with this show. Attendance seemed pretty good but what is really setting this show apart from the recent ones we have been at is that there has been some genuine customers here. The people who did come are actually buying products, Sophie Dee especially did really well for us here. These shows can be challenging for companies because attendance does not always mean customers but here we had real fans and real customers.”
My impressions:
Good attendance from companies and performers plus a lot of energy from the eXXXotica staff made the show a great experience. The "eXXXotica Girls" were a big hit. Some got the tough job of laying around on cushions while others got to ride teeter totters that used dildo's as handles or participating in a bouncing room jousting tournament. Of course there was also your standard cages and pole dancers. The latter of which probably deserved extra money when part of the job consists of a 70 year old man getting his groove on next to you. Thankfully there are no pictures of the event, though I did give the young lady a nice tip once the gentleman had left because she earned it.
They are already making plans for a show next year but I am unclear if the Industry-Only Hours will make it into next years schedule. While they offered a great opportunity for people in the industry to meet and talk without the crowds some of the companies did not have a presence at the show during those times.
The stage shows and seminars were great with the live performance from 2 Live Crew on Friday setting a pretty high bar for the rest of the acts as the show progressed.
From a fan's perspective the good showing from major companies with the appearance of such established stars as Belladonna, jessica drake, Kaylani Lei, Kayden Kross, Alektra Blue, Kirsten Price, Alexis Texas, Lexi Belle, Francesca Le, Jenaveve Jolie, Nina Hartely, Sunny Leone, Sunny Lane, Prinzzess, India Summer, Sophie Dee, Dana DeArmond, Jenna Haze, Phoenix Marie, Teagan Presley, Adrenalynn and Joanna Angel. Along with newer performers Andy San Dimas, Asa Akira, Krissy Lynn, Amy Brooks, Alanah Rae, Breanne Benson, Chanel Preston, Kleio, Sparky, Draven Star, Tanya Tate, and Kagney Linn Karter definitely made the show worth the price of admission and a whole lot more.
