Smash Pictures Lands UK DVD Distribution Deal
with Scala & Pabo/Beate Uhse

(Hollywood, CA) Chatsworth, California based Smash Pictures has inked a key distribution deal with powerhouse Scala UK and the Dutch mail order catalog Pabo which is owned by the Beate Uhse chain.

The deal opens the doors to large scale UK and European distribution for the adult production company best known for their hit adult movie series Secretary’s Day and Teen Idol. The deal came after negotiations intensified at the Venus Berlin tradeshow last month in Germany.

Stuart Wall vice president of Smash Pictures is ecstatic about the new deal and was impressed with the scope and magnitude of Scala and the Pabo/Beate Uhse operation.

“While attending the Venus Berlin show the reputation that SCALA has is top notch and while I was in the Frankfurt, Germany airport I was amazed to see one of the Beate Uhse adult stores located right in the terminal. I also visited the Beate Uhse erotic museum while in Berlin too, these guys are everywhere and this means good things for Smash Pictures,” Wall stated.

Foreign distribution can pose unique problems in territories such as the United Kingdom which has specific requirements regarding the type of movies that are allowed on store shelves and each title must be reviewed and approved by the government with an R18 stamp. Once the R18 approval is given only then does a company have the right to sell DVDS.

This new agreement makes SCALA Agenturen UK Ltd the exclusive representative for new Smash Pictures titles which will be distributed to various adult stores & chains in the U.K.

“We're extending this deal to also include SCALA as our reps into the Dutch mail order catalog PABO which is owned by Beate Uhse which will now have all of our latest Smash Pictures inventory fully stocked in their many stores,” Wall remarked.

Scala’s Clive Gore said, “Smash Pictures produces quality product and when we met again in Berlin and discussed the arrangement it was clear this was a win-win opportunity for both companies in distributing new titles forward.”

The deal comes at a time when Smash Pictures is making increased efforts to globalize their brand. Today streets the new release Teen Idol #6 Black Man's Turn starring Rico Strong, Prince, Shorty Mac & CJ Wright. Casting for volume 6 to the award winning MILF series Cheating Housewives has just started and is slated for a January release.
