'Johnny Wadd' Shatters VCX Sales Records

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — DVD sales of the noir-inspired Johnny Wadd, the first title
featuring the X-rated detective created by the legendary director Bob Chinn and starring adult
superstar John Holmes, is smashing VCX's sales records according to Dynasty Group
Distribution, the producer's distributor.
Shot in 1973, The DVD release of Johnny Wadd marks the first time the title has ever been
available on a home video format. VCX President David Sutton procured a print that was shown
only once, and transfered the movie to DVD using a process that preserves the original film and
improves the image quality. Chinn, a frequent collaborator with Holmes, is featured on a
director's commentary track and in an exclusive interview. Both extras were produced solely for
the Johnny Wadd DVD.
“This movie is fantastic and the response we've received is phenomenal,” Dynasty Group
Distribution President Jon Islas said. “It's the very first Johnny Wadd movie with a young John
Holmes and it hasn't been seen since it was shown in the adult theaters 35 years ago. Nothing's
sold this well for VCX since the release of 'The Very Best of Kay Parker' — and it's outsold
every VCX title we distribute, including such classics as 'Debbie Does Dallas' and 'The Devil in
Miss Jones,' in its first week.”
Islas added that the packaging has helped tremendously, with a film noir look and a striking red
foil DVD sleeve. “'Johnny Wadd' is a great addition to any adult video collection, and will become a mainstay on
any classic shelf,” he said.
