Classic John Stagliano movie Dance Fire released on DVD

As Evil Angel enters its 20th year of business, the company’s first video release, Dance Fire, is being transferred to DVD. Dance Fire will be available on DVD on February 15, 2008. The trailer including a full flash version is available on evilangel.com.

Gene Ross remarked in his AVN review of Dance Fire at the time, “Stagliano creates a feature of such visual sensitivity and depth. (His) effort far surpasses the expectations of the adult video market.”

John comments today that “It was my effort to create the best movie I could as the premiere release of my own manufacturing company, Evil Angel. In Dance Fire, I work with original music, dance and higher budget production values, all of which I would develop throughout my directing career with movies like Buda, Face Dance and especially Fashionistas and later, my Vegas show Fashionistas. Dance Fire was released 8 months before I came up with the Buttman idea.”

Before he was Buttman, John Stagliano was an aspiring porn director who had a thing for dancers with nice asses. Although some critics have incorrectly claimed that storyline was not important for Stagliano, he has always viewed the storyline as an essential element heightening the erotic tension, as we see in Dance Fire with two characters clashing but finally fucking. These artistic impulses came together in a series of erotic features, including Dance Fire, Mystic Pieces, DeBlonde, Shadow Dancers 1 and 2, Rock N' Roll Heaven, and The Legend of Reggie D.

Dance Fire is the story of two dancers (Stagliano, Kathleen Jentry) pulled to each other by common love of dance and sensuality, while nice-assed Brandy Alexandre and big-titted Trinity Loren play dance students who fuck their instructor, Nina DePonca and Stephanie Rage engage in a hot lesbian scene with Jentry, then fuck and suck big cocked Rod Garretto, dance student Champagne is fucked anally by Rick Daniels, and Stagliano anally fucks Brandy's picture perfect ass in a dream/nightmare sequence. Throughout the movie we follow Stagliano and Jentry’s tortured path to each other.

The legendary Jack Baker sings an original song about Mario (Stagliano), a recurring character in John’s early features. Mario first appeared in Stagliano’s Very Sexy Ballet (Cabellero), which was originally titled Very Dirty Dancing, but required a name change due to legal issues. Very Sexy Ballet was one of several dozen feature and vignette movies that Stagliano directed for other companies before opening his own distribution company in late 1988.
