Receiving Over 100 Nominations For The Second Year In A Row,
WICKED PICTURES Congratulates Their 2008 AVN Nominees
DATELINE: NOVEMBER 30, 2007 | Daniel Metcalf Public Relations
LOS ANGELES, CA - (November 30, 2007 DMPR) - For the second consecutive year, Canoga Park-based adult production powerhouse Wicked Pictures is pleased to announce that it has received over 100 combined AVN Nominations, for both its own product and the Video Marc Dorcel, Playgirl, and Sinsation Pictures lines it distributes. Over 50 of these nominations went to the company’s acclaimed quartet of high profile blockbusters Operation Desert Stormy, Coming Home, The Craving, and Black Widow.
As noted by Adult Video News in their formal announcement this week, Stormy Daniels' epic comic adventure Operation Desert Stormy (with 16 nominations) and Brad Armstrong’s compelling war drama Coming Home (with 13 noms) were two of the year’s most nominated titles, followed closely by The Craving (with 12 nominations) and Black Widow (with 10 noms).
Shot on film, Armstrong's darkly elegant cinematic fairytale The Craving was a top-rated film for the year, receiving such important nominations as Best Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography (Francois Clousot), as well as four sex scene nominations, three of which featured the luminous star of the movie, jessica drake.
Turning to the video categories, Armstrong's Coming Home scored such significant noms as Best Director, Best Screenplay - Video (Brad Armstrong), Best Video Feature, Best High-Definition Production, Best Packaging, Best Actor - Video (Brad Armstrong), Best Actress - Video (Kirsten Price), Best Supporting Actor - Video (Barrett Blade), and Best Supporting Actress - Video (Shyla Stylez). Coming Home star Kirsten Price also received a Female Performer Of The Year nomination, and director Armstrong’s Just Between Us was recognized with a Best Actress - Video nomination for its beautiful star, Carmen Hart. The director’s Love Always snared a Best Supporting Actress - Video nod for jessica drake (who also penned the screenplay).
Wicked contract actress, director, and mainstream crossover personality Stormy Daniels’ Operation Desert Stormy received noms in virtually all the major video categories, including Best Director, Best Screenplay - Video (Stormy Daniels), Best Sex Comedy, Best High-Definition Production, Best Actor - Video (Steven St. Croix), Best Packaging, Best Supporting Actor - Video (Marcus London), and Best Editing - Video (Jonathan Morgan).
The actress-director's stylish comedy For Love, Money, Or A Green Card was also recognized with a Best Sex Comedy nomination, as was The One, which she wrote and starred in for director Jonathan Morgan. Daniels’ darkly intense The Predator, which she both shot and starred in, received a nom for Best All-Girl Release.
The scope of Stormy‘s talent and influence was rewarded with additional nominations in categories as diverse as Director Of The Year (Body Of Work), Female Performer Of The Year, and the Jenna Jameson Crossover Star Of The Year award.
Another Stormy project, Michael Raven’s Black Widow, came on strong in such important categories as Best Director, Best Screenplay - Video (Jennifer Allison), Best Video Feature, Best High-Definition Production, Best Actor - Video (Randy Spears), Best Actress - Video (Stormy Daniels), and Best Videography (Francois Clousot). Black Widow star Randy Spears also received a Male Performer Of The Year nomination.
The veteran director’s Delilah registered strongly with AVN‘s nominating committee as well, winning recognition in the Best Actress - Video (jessica drake), Best Actor - Video (Herschel Savage), Best Screenplay - Video (Jennifer Allison), and Best Non-Sex Performance (Veronica Hart) categories. Raven’s spellbinding thriller Supernatural was recognized with Best Supporting Actress - Video (August), Best Overall Marketing Campaign, Individual Project, and Best Special Effects nominations. Raven also received induction into the AVN Hall Of Fame.
Iconoclastic adult visionary David Stanley once again made his mark with an eclectic group of nominations that spoke to the diversity of his talent. Melt saw Stanley receiving Best Video Feature, Best Non-Sex Performance, and Best Screenplay - Video nominations, while his excellent Kaylani Lei vehicle Candelabra scored both a Best Actress - Video nom for its glamorous star and a Best Supporting Actor - Video mention for Eric Masterson. And speaking of Kaylani, her Brad Armstrong-directed designer vehicle Kaylani Unleashed was nominated for Best High End All-Sex Release.
Mark Stone‘s best-selling Reform School Girls was rewarded with a nomination for Best Vignette Release.
Continuing its tradition as a true innovator in the DVD field, Wicked‘s stunning Flashpoint X, a beautifully packaged, multi-disc 10 year anniversary edition of the seminal Jenna Jameson classic, received nominations for both Best Classic DVD and Best Packaging.
Having reached triple digit noms for the second year in a row for its track record of excellence in the areas of direction, performance, eroticism, and design, it should come as little surprise that Wicked 's sweep of the 2008 nominations also included a mention in the Best Overall Marketing Campaign - Company Image category.
In reviewing the over one hundred AVN nominations his company received, Wicked Pictures President and Owner Steve Orenstein observed, “In today’s market, and with the sheer amount of product released on the market, we're happy to see our product and creative team continue to get recognized for their outstanding achievements. Like in years past, virtually all of our team have been recognized in the nominations, as well as all the lines we distribute. I'm thankful to AVN for their consideration, and to my team for their hard work.”
