Erotica L.A. 2002 - Day 2

On the second day I arrive at 9:45 am with the doors to the show opening at 10:00 am. Fortunately I am smart enough and early enough to get a parking spot in the right lot this time close to the doors going to the lobby. Unfortunately there is a little delay in getting my press pass so I don’t actually make it into the convention until about 10:15.

When I arrived there was already a line of about 50-75 people waiting to get into the hall with more in line downstairs to get tickets. It is shaping up to be a busy day.

I do a quick sweep through the convention floor again to see if I can see anything I missed the yesterday before the crowd gets too big. I am especially interested in finding the Mirage Video booth that Lainey X is signing at. I could not locate it the day before. I finally find it behind the Romantix booth. It is totally non-descript with only the standard sign to label it and no one manning it this early in the morning.

While using this time to check out some of the smaller booths that escaped my notice the day before I find a little jewel amidst this sea of confusion that might have other wise been over looked.

The “jewel” in this case took the form of a pretty Asian woman going by the name Lana Li at the Babylon Entertainment booth. It was not the fact that she was pretty that got my attention as much it was the way she was doing her job. She was actively getting people to sign up for Babylon’s mailing list and is happy to pose for pictures but could you please get the Babylon sign in the shot. I ask her if she is under contract to Babylon and she says no she is just signing for them but does do movies. It is refreshing to meet someone who takes such obvious pride in doing the job she was hired to do.

I also get to meet a cute little amateur named Dynamite who is having a birthday party at which two guys will be chosen from the crowd to have sex with her. Unfortunately it is during the show hours today so I wasn’t able to make it but it looked interesting.

It is approaching noon so I walk up to the Wicked booth to find David Crawford and do my first interview of the day. Everything goes smoothly and since Daniel isn’t in yet David pulls Julia Ann and Devinn Lane (see interviews for full report) into the back one at a time so I can get their interviews knocked out as well. By the time I am done it is past 1:30 in the afternoon and I have missed the meeting time with the other people from ADT at the show. I go to the Adult DVD Empire booth to find that someone was indeed looking for me and that they would be back around 3:00. Dee’s “mom and dad” are at the show now so we break for lunch at the concession stand in the hall and pay $13 for a chicken sandwich and soda.

We walk around the hall for a while and I find Tiffany Mason signing at the Romantix’s booth as well as a now brunette Devin Davis. Further exploration now reveals Tiffany Mynx and Coral Sands signing at the Mofo Wear booth. Tiffany is ecstatic to see me (seriously) and proudly announces to everyone present exactly what I have been doing for the last 7 months. So happy is her mood that when Coral says she doesn’t like the pictures I took of her Tiffany tells her to be quiet and that they are beautiful. Though I must say I honestly didn’t think they were that good either.

I walk back to the Adult DVD Empire booth to see if anyone has shown up looking for me again and encounter a mad house. Earlier in the day I had ran into ex-Wicked Girl Alexa Rae there and everything was relatively quiet (for a convention) but now Teri Weigel has joined her and the show has commenced with a capacity crowd. I give up on ever meeting anyone from ADT in this mess when “Devilbro” comes up and introduces himself. My being a goofy looking 6’4” white guy wearing an ADT shirt does at times have its advantages. We talked for quite a while before going our separate ways.

I check back in with the Daniel at the Wicked booth and schedule my last two interviews with Sydnee Steele and Stephanie Swift at 8:30pm and 10:30 pm respectively. It is shaping up to be a very long day. After some more wandering around I manage to locate Dru Berrymore (now also a brunette) at the VCA booth, Allysin Chaynes, Violet Blue, Teanna Kai and Jezebelle Bond to name a few. I get the feeling I missed more than I saw however when I notice Dee hugging two women walking around the floor. I inquire as to who they are and was informed that the blonde is the new Vivid Girl Kody Kameron and the brunette with her is August. Needless to say some picture taking was in order.

I go do my interview with Sydnee and wander around the floor some more but it is getting late so I sit down in the concession stand for a while. There I notice someone I haven’t seen in a while; a tall brunette who goes by the name Chelsea Blue. She is eating so I don’t bother her but make it a mission to find her later. I finally do at the Eros Station booth. Apparently she has been working there quite a while.

I also spend a brief minute talking to Swift Entertainment girl Michelle Michaels who is quietly sitting by Stephanie as she signs. I make a note of the movies she has been in to date so I can check them out later.

It is finally time for my interview with Stephanie and we are both happy to sit down for a while. The situation is made even nicer by the fact the Déjà vu booth next door has already closed so there is no blaring music to contend with.

It is now 11:00pm and I would love to say the night is over but I have been invited to a private party at the Beverly Hills Déjà vu Club being held by Adult DVD Empire so it is off to the club I go. However, I should have paid more attention to the fact this was a private “industry only” party. I didn’t bother to change out of my ADT shirt and had brought my camera. Once there I realized that I was woefully underdressed and that this really wasn’t the place for pictures. Some of the regular industry photographers were pulling girls away from their conversations in order to get them to pose but I considered that inappropriate so I just slung the camera over my shoulder and tried not to stick out too much. Strange to be a club and realize the guy next to you also goes by the name Seymore Butts. I spend the next hour and a half making small talk here and there though at one point am taken to task by Devinn Lane for sitting in the corner by myself taking a break (it has been a long day). At about 1:15am I walk outside to find Julie Meadows having a cigarette. She is in rare form due to being a little on the tipsy side which made for an interesting conversation. All and all Adult DVD Empire threw an outstanding party even if I never got that lap dance that JT promised to buy for me.
